Bay College ADN-RN students will be
presenting a community awareness event on the prevention of suicide on
Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Bay College’s Besse Theater.
The event’s theme is “You are Not Alone: A Conversation to Prevent Suicide,”
and will not only feature various groups from around Delta County with
important information, services, and resources regarding suicide prevention,
but keynote speaker, Jeff Olson will share his personal story on how suicide
affected him, his family and community. Jeff Olson, retired Ishpeming High
School football coach lost his son to suicide. A documentary he produced in his
son’s honor entitled, “Do it for Daniel,” will be presented in the Besse
Theater at 12 p.m. EST.
Doors will open at 11 a.m. and the
presentation will take place from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event is free and
open to the public and refreshments will be served. Partnering
organizations and clubs include Bay College, Bay Pride, Campus Activities
Board, the Bay Film Series, and Communities that Care. For more information,
